Malleable iron fittings, whose full name in Chinese is 可锻铸铁管件, are key components widely used in piping systems. “Malleable” is a transliteration of the English term “Malleable Cast Iron,” accurately summarizing its core material characteristics—good toughness and ductility. It is not made directly from ordinary cast iron but instead employs a special process: first, molten iron is cast into a white cast iron blank, and then it undergoes a long high-temperature annealing treatment. This process decomposes the brittle and hard carbides within the material, forming a nodular graphite structure, which greatly enhances its mechanical properties and overcomes the brittleness and fragility issues of ordinary cast iron.

Malleable iron fittings primarily possess the following outstanding characteristics:1. High strength and good pressure resistance: Their mechanical strength is significantly higher than that of plastic or ordinary gray cast iron fittings, allowing them to reliably withstand the pressures in medium to high-pressure pipeline systems, which is why they are often used in critical pressure-bearing areas.2. To prevent rusting, the surface of most malleable iron fittings undergoes hot-dip galvanization treatment, presenting a common silvery-white appearance. The main types include elbows, tees, pipe clamps, unions, and pipe caps, used to change the direction of pipelines, branch out, connect, and seal.
